snow angel

or child-like in your wonder and awe of the great joy that can be found in even the simplest things in life.  My daughter continues to be both my greatest teacher and my greatest source of inspiration.  When I get tunnel vision, I try to get down on my knees  so I can see the world through her eyes.

For her, happiness is:

  • wearing tights everyday
  • sleeping in the big bed with Mommy and Daddy
  • making snow angels, boot prints and catching snowflakes on her tongue
  • hiding in the box in Mommy’s closet and pretending that she’s in the basement
  • preparing for the festival with her 6 (imaginary) brothers and sisters
  • thinking of new names to call her Dad whom she is now calling Big Tili-tili
  • sitting on her special seat in the bus (that elevated seat in the middle at the very back of the TTC bus}
  • reading about The Boy in the Drawer and The Titanic
  • taking her babies for walks in the snow
  • sewing buttons on, tying bows and fixing her hair again and agian and again
  • talking endlessly with us about anything at all
  • staying up late during special nights
  • eating gelato in the big bed
  • planning a (pretend) party and making a list of her guests
  • washing linens (or her turtlenecks, shirts, socks…) and hanging them on the rad to dry

The list can go on and on; and while making yours, you’ll see how inspiring it is to think as simply as a child does once in a while.
